The 2 Critical Success Factors…

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

To be successful in business or anything for that matter comes down to 2 critical factors;

Potential and Performance

Constant training and personal development is an essential for anyone serious about being successful, however as important as it is to continually increase your skill set, it only gives you the first critical component of success - Potential.

Your potential is what you are capable of achieving with your current knowledge and skills when you are operating at peak performance.

Performance is where most people fall down. There is no doubt about the importance of loading up with more knowledge to give you more potential, but unfortunately for most people they caught up in the never ending doom loop of chasing more and more knowledge without focusing on their performance.

If you’ve attended a lot of seminars and trainings before and haven’t improved your results, performance is the issue. Performance is where the rubber meets the road and while it’s all about taking massive action, the crucial component left out of most trainings is you must take the right action.

I see this common mistake too many times with entrepreneurs, they are working flat out with their head down and bum up, with the false belief that as long as they are busy they must be making progress, right? WRONG!!

Most entrepreneurs waste their days away working on the trivial $2 an hour tasks instead of the $1,000 an hour tasks.

Every successful person understands the importance of ongoing personal development to stay ahead of the pack… The missing piece of the puzzle for most people is fulfilling their potential and how they can overcome bottlenecks and barriers when they present themselves so they can operate unrestricted at full throttle where performance meets potential.

In my time training as a Commando in the Special Forces it was the same combination, where we constantly trained to further develop our skill set to give us an edge over our competitors on game day, this is the 1% effect all elite people focus on that I share at my business seminars.

The big thing I got out my Special Forces soldier training was how to operate at peak performance. Do you think the Australian Special Forces knows a bit about getting people to operate at peak performance and achieve amazing things? You bet they do! And I’m so grateful for that experience and even more grateful that I have that to pass on to budding entrepreneurs at my business events.

The great thing for you is you don’t have to go through Special Forces training to arm yourself with the all important Commando peak performance formula… Even better for you is you don’t have to wait for long to access them… Why? Because The Business Commandos Boot Camp is coming up very soon to arm you with everything you need to achieve your goals faster than you ever thought possible.

Mastery
Mastery in our careers (and in our lives!) requires that we constantly
produce results beyond and out of the ordinary. Mastery is a product
of consistently going beyond our limits. For most people, it starts with
technical excellence in a chosen field and a commitment to that
excellence. If you’re willing to commit yourself to excellence, to
surround yourself with things that represent this excellence, your life
will change.

It’s remarkable how much mediocrity we live with, surrounding
ourselves with daily reminders that average is somehow acceptable.
In fact, our world suffers from terminal normality. Take a moment to
assess all the things around you that promote your being “average.”
These are the things that prevent you from going beyond the limits
that you’ve arbitrarily set for yourself.

The first step to mastery is the removal of everything in your
environment that represents mediocrity, and one way to attain that
objective is to surround yourself with people who ask more of you
than you would ordinarily give of yourself. Didn’t your parents and
some of your best teachers and coaches do exactly that?

Another step on the path to mastery is the removal of resentment
toward the masters. Develop compassion for yourself so that you
can be in the presence of a master and grow from the experience.
Rather than comparing yourself to (and resenting) people who have
mastery, remain open and receptive. Let the experience be like the
planting of a seed within you that, with nourishment, will grow into
your own individual mastery.

You see, we’re all ordinary. But rather than condemning himself for
his “ordinariness,” a master will embrace that ordinariness as a
foundation for building the extraordinary. Rather than relying on his
ordinariness as an excuse for inactivity, he’ll use it instead as a
vehicle for correcting himself. It’s necessary to be able to correct
yourself without invalidating or condemning yourself to use the results
of the correction process to improve upon other aspects of your life.
Correction is essential to power and mastery. By Stewart Emery.

The top 5% of people in any field reap all of the rewards, whether it be sport, business or anything, it’s the masters who are in the elite 5% who make all of the money and get all of the recognition and rewards.

Those who’ve been to one of our Boot Camps already know, it only takes 1% for Mastery.
