FAST PROFITS… Step 1 of 5
1. Stake your claim…
The marketing matrix pictured below is the foundations for marketing;
It all starts with targeting the right market. So you must be crystal clear on who you’re trying to reach. Who are you aiming at? Quite often people play blind archery and they’ll be firing off arrows with a blindfold on just praying they may hit a target. What a waste of m~oney!! Think of each of those arrows as a dollar. They’re just throwing out money everywhere, a totally ineffective strategy. So get clear on who you’re talking to, your target market.
Then you need to craft your message so you enter the conversation that your prospect is already having with themselves in their own mind. So you find out what your target markets life is like each day? Because if you’re targeting corporate CEOs, you’re going to talk to them a little bit different maybe than if you’re targeting mums at home, working a home business and looking after a couple of kids or whatever it may be. So you need to be crystal clear on what specifically they want. Your message is all about having an attractive hook that appeals to them. Otherwise you won’t get them into your web.
Number three is the media. What form of media are you going to use to… You’re clear on your market, you’ve got an awesome message that is going to attract them, son now you’ve got to get that message in front of them. You can use multiple forms of media in your marketing system. Some different medias include; Internet, direct mail, advertising, networking, publishing, speaking, joint ventures and a whole lot more. The internet is a powerful one today that a lot of people get all wrapped up in and it is absolutely awesome, there’s plenty of things you can do on the internet, but at the end of the day that’s one form of media. There’s plenty of other forms of media that you can tap into with your business in your marketing system to bring more business to you.
Stage four is the maths of this matrix. Those first three, market, message and media will allow you to be a successful marketer. You can be a successful marketer and still not make money if you don’t have the maths of the matrix right. The maths is about making sure you’ve got healthy profit margins. You want to be rewarded well for what you do, for all of your smart work. You want to make sure you’re adding massive value to your marketplace and get rewarded handsomely for doing so.
And stage five of the matrix is metrics. You must test and measure absolutely everything in your business. It’s crucial with your marketing. Metrics is like the one per centers, if you don’t measure what you do how can you improve it? People waste a fortune on their advertising with ineffective marketing because they don’t measure and don’t know any different. It’s just crazy. Ignorance is expensive in this game. If they just tested and measured they could work some of it out for themselves.
The marketing matrix is the first part of staking your claim.
Do you know what the most important thing for you to be successful in business is? A hungry crowd who really want your product. If you’re opening a hamburger stand for that to be successful the most important thing is a hungry crowd. It’s always market first, product second. A lot of people get passionate and all wrapped up in their product saying; “I’ve got this awesome new product!” Who cares!! If there’s no market for the product, it’s a total waste of your time and you’re not going to make any money. It’s hard to make a serious difference to anyone’s life if you don’t make any money.
Focus on a market that is an inch wide and a mile-deep like a roofing plumber. Rather than being a generalist plumber, be a specialist roofing plumber. All of a sudden it’s just a small slice of the market, just an inch wide and it’s also a mile deep. How many people need a roof on their house…. Everyone! You need both pieces of the puzzle. It’s all right to have an inch-wide niche but if there’s only five people that are interested in what you’ve got you’re not going to do too well. Your market needs to be a mile deep as well to ensure you can make a lot of money out of the value you deliver.
This concept is like when you get a magnifying glass and use it to focus the suns rays on some dry leaves… Pretty soon a fire is created. Where as the suns rays unfocused are nowhere near as powerful.
